Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at advancedestheticsinstitute@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes, we do offer services to the public. All services are performed by students under the supervision of licensed instructors. This provides our students with hands-on experience while giving clients access to treatments at reduced rates. Services are based on student availability and educational curriculum.

To apply to Advance Esthetics Institute, students must submit an application form, high school diploma or GED, transcripts from their previous school if transferring, and schedule a tour.

Advance Esthetics Institute offers two programs. Beginning Esthetics for people new to the industry, and Advanced Esthetics for those looking to further their career. Each program is approximately 500 hours. The programs each take about five-six months to complete, with one or two of those months being online.

We have class starts three times a year: December, April, and August.

Our school does not accept FAFSA, however we are more than happy to accept scholarships or grants. We also offer a payment plan, which includes three payments. One due upon enrollment, the second due at week 6 and the final due at week twelve in the program

In Oregon, esthetics licensing is divided into two distinct levels:

Oregon’s Basic Esthetics License allows practitioners to perform non-invasive cosmetic skincare services, including:

  • Cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing the skin
  • Performing basic and European facials
  • Hair removal using waxing, tweezing, or threading
  • Manual and machine exfoliation (such as microdermabrasion)
  • Applying makeup and lash/brow tinting
  • Using non-invasive devices like brushes, steamers, and LED (non-ablative)
  • Basic product knowledge and skin analysis

Program Requirements:

  • Minimum 500 hours of education (per Oregon Health Licensing Office requirements)
  • Includes classroom theory, practical training, and Oregon state law review
  • Prepares students for the Oregon Basic Esthetics License exam

Who Is it For:

  • Students new to the skincare industry
  • Anyone wanting to work in spas, salons, or beauty studios performing traditional skin care services

Advanced Program:

Regulated by the Oregon Health Licensing Office and the Board of Certified Advanced Estheticians. The Advanced Esthetics License allows practitioners to perform energy- and device-based skin treatments, including:

  • Laser hair reduction
  • Laser tattoo removal
  • IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) for skin rejuvenation
  • Radio frequency (RF) skin tightening
  • Body Contouring
  • Fractional laser resurfacing (non-ablative)
  • Advanced chemical peels (medium-depth peels)
  • Microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy with medical-grade depth)

Program Requirements:

  • Minimum 500 hours of advanced education (per Oregon’s Advanced Esthetics rules)
  • Focus on laser and energy-based device safety, protocols, physics, and contraindications
  • Prepares students for the Oregon Certified Advanced Esthetician (CAE) Licensing Exam

Who is it for:

  • Licensed Basic Estheticians in Oregon who want to expand their scope of practice
  • Those interested in working in medical spas, dermatology clinics, or cosmetic surgery settings
  • Practitioners who want to offer laser, IPL, microneedling, and device-based treatments legally in Oregon

Per Oregon Administrative Rule 819‑020‑0120, applicants for advanced certification must:

  • Hold an active Basic Esthetician certificate from the Oregon Board of Cosmetology, in good standing, with no disciplinary actions pending.

You cannot bypass this requirement; advanced training is only open to those already credentialed in Basic Esthetics.
